Unlike a database, journal collections normally do not use subject indexing and cover fewer journals than a databases does. However, they are great when you want to get a sense of the sort of articles that a journal publishes or to do a keyword search when looking for more obscure topics that the database search isn't getting.
Though Bethel does not subscribe to a database dedicated to American Sign Language or Sign Language Interpreting studies, Bethel does provide several databases that cover different aspects of deaf studies. Depending on what aspect of sing language your are dealing with, different databases may work better for you.
