PsycINFO is the resource used in locating articles for psychology research. In addition to keyword searching, PsycINFO provides several other means to help narrow and refine search results. Some of these tools include limiting by different age groups, methodologies used, and by subject. Subject searching is worthy of mention since it employ's the APA's thesaurus. If you click on Thesaurus, which is located at the top of the search screen, you will access the Thesaurus and be able to search for psychological terms, find definitions of those terms, discover related terminology, and perform subject searches.

Notes on Searching

  • Dissertations: Dissertations are not mass produced (they are usually printed or typed out like you would your papers for class) and are therefore difficult to request. Because of this, Bethel generally does not InterLibrary Loan dissertations from other libraries, and requests for dissertations will be turned down. When performing a search, you may excluded dissertations from your results by going to the Advanced search screen, clicking the box next to "Exclude Dissertations" which is near the bottom, and then perform your search.
